23 headed to 7AA swim meet

Last season the Forest Lake High School girls swimming and diving team sent 22 girls to the section 7AA meet. This year the Rangers are sending one more to bring the number to 23.
Forest Lake High School graduate Brianna Hubbard and junior Janel Duffy earned a trip to the state meet thanks to their performances at the 7AA meet for diving and junior Amanda Nelson was the only Rangers swimmer to advance from the 7AA meet.
Eighth graders making their first possible trip to the 7AA meet are Anne Bleninger, Gaby Bunten, Natalie Emholz, Erin Liljedahl and Sarah Williamson.
Bleninger will be swimming in the 100 yard butterfly, Bunten in the 200 yard individual medley, 500 yard freestyle, member of the 200 yard freestyle relay team and a member of the 400 yard freestyle relay team, Emholz in the 100 yard breast stroke, Liljedahl in the 100 yard butterfly and Williamson in the 200 yard medley relay and 100 yard breastroke.
Freshman Julianna Dahlager will be swimming in the 50 and 100 yard freestyle, 100 yard and is an alternate for the 200 yard freestyle relay team. Freshman Darian Kaiser will be swimming in the 200 yard individual medley relay, the 100 yard freesytle and the 400 yard freestyle relay. Freshman Heidi Merrier will swim in the 100 yard breaststroke and freshman Scotti Sampair will be diving.
Freshman Erin Eagen, junior Lindsey Quale and sophomore Mary Walters will also be trying to earn a trip to the state meet.
Eagen will be diving while Quale will be swimming in the 200 yard individual medley. Walters will be swimming in the 200 yard medley relay, 100 yard freestyle, the 100 yard backstroke and the 400 yard freestyle relay.
Six juniors will be swimming or diving at the 7AA meet.
Duffy is the only junior that will be diving and Ann Husfeldt will be swimming in the 200 and 500 yard freestyle. Alissa Moberg will be swimming in the 200 yard freestyle and the 100 yard breaststroke. Carrie Peterson will be swimming in the 200 yard individual medley and 100 yard backstroke, while Francis VanSloun will be swimming in the 200 yard freestyle. Becky Zierke will be swimming in the 200 and 500 yard freestyle and is an alternate for the 400 yard freestyle relay.
Three seniors will be making their final appearance at the 7AA meet.
Rachel Merrier will be swimming in the 200 yard medley relay, 200 yard freestyle relay and 50 and 100 yard freestyle races. Allison Garrity will be swimming in the 100 yard backstroke and Amanda Sigfrinius will be diving.
The 7AA meet is Thursday, Friday and Saturday at Northdale Junior High.
