It has been decades since actor Adam West donned his ìBatmanî costume for the original 1960ís television series. But he doesnít shy away from his best-known role; he embraces it.
And fans continue to pledge their allegiance to West, which was obvious during his appearance at Nightmare at Pinehaven Farm last weekend.
The line to meet West was lengthy on Friday night and even longer for his Saturday appearance.
ìItís a way for me to thank the fans,î explained West of his autograph signings.
Typically taking part in four or five signings a year, West travels throughout the country meeting ìBatmanî enthusiasts.
Batman begins
An accomplished actor even before his ëBatmaní role, West was skeptical about taking the lead in the television series. He had done previous comedic work and was handpicked for the part.
ìI said ëëWait a minute, Iím trying to have a serious career,î recalled West of his initial reaction to the show.
His tune changed, however, when he read the script for the pilot episode.
ìI fell down 18 times laughing,î mentioned West.
He noted he especially appreciated the scriptsí aim to appeal to both children and adults.
ìI loved the comedy,î West said.
He has been involved with multiple projects since the ìBatmanî television series. In particular, West has found much success in voice-over work.
He serves as ìMayorî in the FOX television show ìFamily Guy,î and will be featured in the upcoming animated Disney film ìChicken Little.î
Big country
Originally from Walla Walla, WA, Westís first visit to the Forest Lake ó Wyoming area was last weekend.
It was not his first time in Minnesota, however. He had previously been to the Mall of America and had once traveled across the northern part of the state.
His impression of the ìLand of 10,000 Lakes?î
ìIt reminds me a little bit of Montana,î said West. ìBig country, I like that.î
