Houle honored on 80th birthday Oct. 30
Hank Houle may have turned 80 on Sept. 8 of this year, but that isnít stopping family and friends from planning a party this month.
Houle, a long-time Forest Lake resident, city servant and business owner, will be honored on Sunday, Oct. 30 at St. Peterís Catholic Church, 1250 South Shore Drive.
The birthday party is planned from noon to 4 p.m. and the public is invited. Lunch and refreshments will be served.
Houle has spent most of his life in the Forest Lake area, minus time in the U.S. Army in the late 1940s.
The Forest Lake man spent the bulk of his work life in Forest Lake. He logged 40 years in the real estate profession starting in 1962 in Forest Lake. He is a past president of the St. Croix Valley Board of Realtors.
He has also served on the board of directors of First State Bank of Wyoming for many years.
He is active at St. Peterís Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus.
Houle also served two elective terms on Forest Lake City Council spanning six years.
An avid sportsman and outdoors enthusiast, Houle was a pioneer in the Reinvest in Minnesota program. In 1986 he donated 80 acres in Columbus Township to the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources. The site was named Brownís Preserve and it was Houleís intent to see that the land remain in a natural state for future generations to enjoy.
In his retirement years, Houle also works as a volunteer at Family Pathways.
The Oct. 30 birthday party is sponsored by his wife, Elaine, and their four children: Nadine (Jim) Sedderholm, Jim (Kim), Daniel (Lori), David (Michelle) and the coupleís grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Guests attending on Oct. 30 are welcome to bring special photos and stories for Hankís memory book.
