Builder Len Pratt honored by county
Hugo area developer Len Pratt was awarded a Commissionerís Service Award for his commitment to improving Washington Countyís transportation system. District 1 Commissioner Dennis Hegberg presented the award in recognition of Prattís crucial assistance in the County State Aid Highway 14/8 project west of Hugo. Pratt is cofounder of Pratt Homes, a developer for the Victor Gardens planned community, located along CR-8. He donated over a mile of his land running along CR-8 which made highway expansion in the area possible. County Transportation and Physical Development Director Don Theisen said that development in the Hugo area has meant CR-8 between I-35 and US-61 is receiving significantly more traffic than it was originally designed for. ìLen Prattís contribution was both much needed and very generous,î Hegberg said. ìHe understood the needs and what good transportation means to his community and he did something about it.î ìI realize itís necessary for the county and the Hugo area to continue to grow and thereís only so much money to go around,î Pratt said. ìI want to see that money is going into making the necessary road improvements.î
