Swim team places 6th at WBL Invite

With 19 teams showing up for the White Bear Lake Invitational over the weekend the Forest Lake High School girls swimming and diving team continued to drop their times and qualify more swimmers for the section meet as they placed sixth.
Amanda Nelson placed second in the 100-meter butterfly with a time of 1:01.27 and fifth in the 50-meter freestyle with a time of 25.90.
The Rangers registered fourth place finishes in the 500-meter freestyle with eighth grader Gaby Buntenís time of 5:29.14, the 100-meter backstroke with Mary Waltersí time of 1:05.82 and Janel Duffy placed fourth in diving.
With 19 teams at the invite it was hard to have swimmers place in every event, but several swimmers were able to drop their times in their respective events and come away from the meet with some positives.
Carrie Peterson dropped her time in the 500-meter freestyle to 6:10.76, Alissa Moberg dropped her 100-meter breaststroke time to 1:22.00, Kathrine Monberg dropped her 100-meter backstroke time to 1:18.16 and Laura Oberg-Hauser dropped her 50-meter freestyle time to 29.51.
The Rangers section qualifiers to date are Frances VanSloun in the 200 and 500- meter freestyle, Becky Zierke 200 and 500- meter freestyle, Bunten 50, 100, 200, and 500-meter freestyle and 200-meter individual medley, Darian Kaiser in the 200-meter individual medley and 100-meter butterfly, Rachel Merrier 50-meter freestyle, Nelson in the 50-meter freestyle and 100-meter butterfly, Peterson in the 100-meter butterfly and 500-meter freestyle, Lindsey Quale in the 100-meter butterfly, eighth grader Erin Liljedahl in the 100-meter butterfly, eighth grader Anne Bleninger in the 100- meter butterfly, Walters in the 100-meter freestyle and 100-meter backstroke, Ann Husfeldt 500- meter freestyle, Allison Garrity in the 100-meter backstroke, Moberg 100-meter breaststroke, Heidi Merrier in the 100-meter breaststroke and eighth grader Sarah Williamson in the 100-meter breaststroke.
The Rangers next meet is today, Thursday, when they host Cretin-Derham Hall at 6 p.m. at the Southwest Junior High pool.
