Scandia offers incorporation help

Residents of New Scandia Township interested in learning more about the on-going discussion to incorporate as a city can attend a special meeting at 7 p.m., Monday, Sept. 12, attend a public hearing on Sept. 20 or use the Internet. On Sept. 12 at the Scandia Community Center, the incorporation committee will convene one last time for the sole purpose of answering questions. Residents may query or dialogue with the committee as a whole or its individual members. Neither the committee nor the board of supervisors will make a presentation or give speeches that evening. ìWeíve arranged for this second public information meeting because the board wants to provide residents a special opportunity to visit with the people who did all the research on the issue of incorporation,î said Dennis Seefeldt, board chair. On Sept. 20, a public hearing will take place during the boardís regularly scheduled meeting where residents can voice concerns or opinions about incorporation issues. Only then will the board cast a vote to start the process of incorporation or abandon the idea altogether. For questions and answers about incorporation go online at www.newscandia.org.
