Apple Valley man challenges Kennedy
An Apple Valley man will challenge Congressman Mark Kennedy for the Republican endorsement to run for U.S. Senate next year. Harold Shudlick, 62, said last week he is seeking the Republican Party endorsement ó an endorsement generally seen as sewn up by 6th District Congressman Kennedy. Though conceding he has an ìuphillî fight, Shudlick argues Kennedy can serve best by staying in the House and what Minnesota really needs is someone fresh. ìI think common people like you and me are called on to do uncommon things,î Shudlick said. An ordained Lutheran minister, Shudlick served as a chaplain in the Minneapolis V.A. Medical Center. A retired U.S. Army Reserve Lieutenant Colonel, Shudlick served with the 25th Infantry Division in Vietnam and was awarded the Combat Infantry Badge and Bronze Star. Shudlick and his wife Barbara have four children.
