VFW Post 4210 and Friar Tuckís Pub at Northland Plaza in Forest Lake are partnering on a drive to collect needed goods for residents of the south Gulf Coast who will begin arriving this week at Camp Ripley near Little Falls. A semi-truck provided by the Minnesota National Guard will be parked at the VFW, 556 SW 12th St. Post 4210 and Friar Tuckís will both serve as drop points. Carla Erzar, owner of Friar Tuckís, said items needed include winter clothing, toys and games for kids, non-perishable food products, diapers, baby formula and other personal items. ìWe really hope Forest Lake jumps on board and helps,î Erzar said. Cash donations to assist with the operation at the military camp are also being collected. The goal is to fill one semi-truck with items, said Erzar and Post 4210 manager Keith Hegstrom.
