Girls CC takes 3rd at C-I Invite

The Forest Lake High School girls cross country team started their season off with a third place finish at the Cambridge Isanti Invitational Saturday.

Kristi Buerkle led the Rangers with a seventh place finish with a time of 16:18, followed by Auralee McGary who finished ninth with a time of 16:22.

Rounding out the top five runners for the Rangers were Gina Lange who placed 21st with a time of 17:30, Shawna McNamara who finished 29th with a time of 17:59 and Bridget Holmes who finished 35th with a time of 18:31. Other varsity runners included Megan Gooley who finished 40th with a time of 18:47 and Sarah Mitchell who finished 41st with a time of 18:49.

The Rangers finished third as a team with 101 points behind Suburban East Conference rivals Mounds View who placed second with 72 points and Roseville who won the invite with 18 points. The Rangers finished ahead of Minnehaha Academy (135 points), Centennial (149 points), Cambridge Isanti (210 points), Pine City (223 points) and Mora (243 points).

In the junior high 2000-meter race Elizabeth Peterson placed third with a time of 8:53, Nicky Johnson eighth with a time of 9:17 and McCall Lemmons 18th with a time of 10:17.
