One major theft and a series of vandalism incidents were included in Forest Lake Police Department reports from the past week.
Chief of Police Clark Quiring said this week a Forest Lake business was hit with an $18,000 from an incident that took place between Sept. 2 and Tuesday, Sept. 6.
Lakeview Enterprises reported the theft of tenon tools. Tenon tools are used in wood working and log furniture construction.
The tools had left on a pallet and were taken from the business at some point during the holiday weekend, police said.
Vandalism reports were also numerous over the past week, the chief said.
Two city residents on SE 7th Street ó one in the 1000 block and the second in the 900 block ó reported that two tires were slashed on their vehicles.
Three other home owners during the past week reported vandalism to lawns from vehicles being driven off the road. In one case, a small shed was damaged by a vehicle.
Animals galore!
It was also a busy week for animal calls.
In two cases, city residents called to ask for help when a large snapping turtle was observed in a yard in the 600 block of SW 8th St. and in a parking lot at Village Apartments. Police responded to both locations and advised complainants to leave the turtle alone.
Officers were also called to investigate reports of an injured hawk and an injured duck.
In yet another animal call, police were called to the 800 block of SE 11th Avenue to check on an opossum. Police told the complainant to leave the animal alone and it would leave on its own.
