Festival a night to celebrate differences

Mary Moua, left, was a part of the Festival of Cultures program put on by Forest Lake Area Schools on Friday, April 7. Moua is a part of the Hmong dancing group ěThe Divine,î and was an entertainer at the festival. The costume Moua is wearing is a traditional outfit worn during New Yearís festivities, but also for entertaining. The festival set out to educate the public about the different cultures represented throughout the community. More than 26 booths and several presenters showcased a specific country. Participants could ětravelî through the cafeteria of the Forest Lake High School and get their ěpassportsî stamped from each country they visited. Each represented country had something to offer, whether it was food, toys or henna tattoos, each country was represented well. (Photo By Abby Nadeau)
