Just after midnight on Sunday, April 9 Chance R. Holt, 19, of Stacy, was killed in a two-car collision while traveling southbound on I-35E, near Anoka CR-14 in Lino Lakes. He was declared dead at the scene.
Holt was one of two men to die in the crash, according to a Minnesota State Patrol incident report.
Michael J. Packer, 46, of Cottage Grove, was driving northbound in the south bound lane of I-35E when he struck Holt and a passenger, in Holtís 1986 Buick Century, head-on, the State Patrol said.
Packer, who was driving a 1995 Nissan Pathfinder, was taken to North Memorial Medical Center, but was pronounced dead on arrival.
Matthew Kalsnes, 18, of Forest Lake, the passenger in Holtís vehicle, was taken to North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale with a critical, but non life threatening injury, the State Patrol said.
Holt and Kalsnes were both wearing seatbelts, Packer was not, the State Patrol said.
According to the State Patrol toxicology tests will be given to determine whether alcohol or drugs were involved in the crash.
