Driving the wrong way on a one-way street between two Forest Lake schools has earned a local man a trip to jail.
The vehicle was stopped by Forest Lake police at 3:08 a.m. Tuesday as it drove the wrong way between the Central Learning Center and Forest Lake Elementary School.
After making the stop, city officers arrested a back seat passenger, Bradley Richard Peterson, 45, of 1267 SW 11th Ave. for an outstanding Ramsey County felony warrant for assaulting a police officer, Police Chief Clark Quiring said.
During the stop, police also recovered several baggies of methamphetamine and two pipes. Peterson was taken to the county jail in Stillwater where he was booked on the warrant and for fifth-degree possession of a controlled substance, police said.
The three other people in the car, a Hugo man and a man and a woman from Rush City, were interviewed at the Forest Lake Police Station and released. The car, driven by the Hugo man, is in process of being seized, police said.
Other crimes
In other crimes reported to Forest Lake police this week, officers:
ïConfiscated five skateboards from youth on Monday from a Lake Shoppes parking lot where they were skating in an area where such activity is prohibited. The five area juveniles were not ticketed, Quiring said, but their parents will be asked to come to the police station to retrieve the skateboards.
ïReceived multiple reports of thefts from autos and vandalism to autos. Four reports were made from SW Apartment Lane, two from South Shore Drive and one from SW 11th Ave. on April 14. Stereo CD systems and CDs were the targets of choice, police said.
