Relay for Life kicks off at Hosanna Lutheran April 24

Relay For Life of Forest Lake kicks off its fund-raising efforts Monday, April 24, at 7 p.m., at Hosanna Lutheran Church.

The Kick-Off meeting was moved to Hosanna, so the new Forest Lake Relay web site at www.acsevents.org/relay/mn/forestlake could be debuted.

Teams and individuals may register on-line, find information about Forest Lakeís Relay and link to the American Cancer Society web site.

According to Nancy Spiegel Rosman, chairperson, ìWeíre so excited to present our web site. It makes Relay For Life accessible to everyone in the community.î

Relay For Life of Forest Lake has set a goal of $170,000 this year which would bring the total raised in 13 years to over $1,000,000.

Forest Lake consistently raises more funds per capita than towns of similar size.

Relay For Life of Forest Lake was recognized as a Top Ten Nationwide Community in 2005.

The Relay will be held at the Forest Lake High School track August 4-5, starting at 6:30 p.m.

The community is invited to attend and enjoy the live entertainment, silent auction, and kids game area.

The Survivor lap occurs at 7:30 p.m. and is the highlight of the evening.

At dusk, the luminaries are lit and the candles burn throughout the night.

The drawing for the raffle car will be at 10 p.m.

New this year, a Pancake Breakfast at the Masonic Lodge will be served from 7 a.m. to noon on Saturday, August 5. Tickets will go on sale in July.

Relay For Life is a family-oriented event where participants enjoy the camaraderie of a team and also raise funds to support the activities of the American Cancer Society.

Teams of as many as 15 members keep one member on the track at all times during the 12 hour Relay. Late in the evening, the party moves to the track with theme laps, games and prizes.

Willing participants who are interested in starting or joining a team, should attend the Kick-Off on April 24, 7 p.m., at Hosanna Lutheran.

Team captains and others interested in starting or joining a team should attend.

For more information or if any participant cannot attend the April 24 meeting, contact Nancy Spiegel Rosman at 651-433-5150.
