Residents of the city of Forest Lake can clean out their garages, basements and storage sheds when the community hosts the annual Rid Litter Day on Saturday, May 6. The event will take place in the parking lot at Northland Mall, 1432 S. Lake St. (US-61 south), from 8-11 a.m. City residents are welcome to use Rid Litter Day to get rid of appliances, electronics, beds and furniture, carpet, tires and tire rims. While many items are charged by the item, residents are given a flat charge of $5 for each car load of trash and $25 for each pickup load of trash. Hazardous material products may also be disposed on May 6. The event is sponsored by the city of Forest Lake in cooperation with Forest Lake Sanitation.
