FL Council filing period opens Aug. 29
Let the flood gates open. On Tuesday, Aug. 29 the city of Forest Lake will open its city filings for those looking to fill a position in city government. The city council has four positions that need to be filled including mayor and three council seats.
Council members Rick Ashbach, Susan Young and Greg Ochs and Mayor Terry Smithís terms have all expired. Ashbach and Youngís council terms are for four years while Ochsí, who filled in for Dick Tschida, position would only last for two years.
Residents interested in filing for a position can order a candidate filing packet by calling the City Deputy Clerk at 651-209-9727 or by stopping by City Hall at 220 N. Lake St. The cost to file is $5. All packets must be returned to the city by Tuesday, Sept. 12 at 5 p.m. The council election will take place on Tuesday, Nov. 7.
