Tuesday, Aug. 29 is the filing period deadline for those interested in running in the ìCity of Columbusî special election. The election will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 12. Those who have filed as of Aug. 22 are Mel Mettler for mayor, and Renae Fry, Dennis Peterson, Myron Organ and Mark Walsh for the position of city council. The candidates elected on Sept. 12 will serve for the balance of the calendar year. A regular city council taking office in January will be elected on Nov. 7.
