Smash and grab burglars steal cigarettes

A trio of smash and grab burglars made off with an unknown quantity of cigarettes from a Forest Lake store early Sunday morning.
Forest Lake police were called to Forest Lake Tobacco, 221 SW 12th St. after burglary alarms sounded at 1:20 a.m. At the store, police found the front door glass window had been smashed in.
A review of the store surveillance video determined that three suspects wearing masks entered the store and placed tobacco products in large garbage pails and then fled the store. The video revealed the three left in a passenger vehicle, but it is uncertain as to the success of the burglary.
Store personnel were in the process this week of providing an inventory list of items stolen early Sunday morning. Three garbage pails were located inside the store and were taken into evidence along with the cash register.
In another burglary report, a home owner in the 20000 block of July Ave. N. reported a burglary on Thursday, Aug. 17 that took place between 8:15 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.
Police said someone entered the home through an unlocked back sliding door and made off with jewelry, a TV, one carton of cigarettes, two handguns, credit cards and miscellaneous change.
Missing man found
Forest Lake police assisted authorities from Wyoming and Chisago County in finding an elderly Wyoming man who wandered away from his home on Wyoming Trail.
Forest Lake police were called shortly before noon on Wednesday, Aug. 16 by the Chisago County Sheriffís Office with an attempt to locate an Alzheimerís patient who was missing from his home.
Officers in Forest Lake found the 78-year-old man on the Hardwood Creek Trail just west of Forest Lake City Hall. Police said the man had walked the trail from Wyoming to Forest Lake.
The man was transported by Forest Lake police to Wyoming and left with his wife. The Wyoming Police Department was advised.
