State Rep. Pete Nelson, R-Lindstrom, has filed for reelection in District 17B serving most of Chisago County. ìAs a former butcher, and now legislator, I enjoy doing both! I am a parent, a grandparent and someone who has invested my entire life right here,î Nelson said in a filing statement. ìIíve worked here, owned a moderate-sized business with numerous employees here and Iíve paid property taxes and employee taxes. One of my strengths is that I know what Minnesotans expect from our government, because I have experienced the same struggles as the people I represent.î He added, ìWe need and expect overall common sense government run by leaders who can knowledgeably respond to the high growth demands of this county and state. We expect quality education with accountability, safety for our kids, good roads and transit options for our families and businesses as well as value for our tax dollar.î
