As vehicle thefts go in Forest Lake, they donít get much bigger than this one.

Forest Lake Ford, 231 SW 19th St., has reported the theft of a 2006 Ford F350 four by four one-ton Harley-Davidson Edition pickup. Police estimates put the loss at in excess of $50,000.

Chief of Police Clark Quiring said dealership security video shows a vehicle carrying four subjects entering the lot late in the evening on July 27. One of the subjects left the vehicle and stole the limited edition pickup.

As of Tuesday of this week, the black in color truck with white ghost lines was still missing, police said.

In another vehicle theft, an air-conditioning service van was stolen overnight from a residence in the 900 block of SW 2nd Ave.

The van, a 2002 white Chevrolet was reported stolen on July 28.

Other reports

Police were called to the parking lot at Sherwin-Williams, 608 W. Broadway Ave. at 10:04 p.m. on July 26 to stop a fight involving juveniles.

Police found a group of 15 juveniles, mostly females involved in the altercation, police said. The youth were from the Forest Lake, Chisago City and Lindstrom areas.

Police issued one juvenile citation for disorderly conduct, the chief said.

As director of public safety, Quiring asked city residents to follow the current water use restrictions that are in place. Lawn watering is allowed during limited periods on odd-even days that correspond to the street address.

Police are making stops at homes where violations are observed. In one stop on Everton Avenue recently, a ticket was issued for violation of city ordinance 469.

Quiring also reminded pet owners to not leave animals in unattended vehicles during the hot weather.

Officers have responded to numerous calls from the public over the past week reporting animals locked in vehicles. In those cases, police have attempted to locate the motorists and have them attend to their pets, the chief said.
