Residents of the Hugo area can be screened to reduce the risk of having a stroke when Life Line Screening visits New Life Church, 6000 N. 148th St. at 9 a.m. on Aug. 24. Screenings involve the use of ultrasound technology and scan for potential health problems related to blocked arteries which can lead to a stroke, aortic aneurysms which can lead to a ruptured aorta and hardening of the arteries in the legs which are a strong predictor of health disease. Bone density screening is also offered to assess the risk of osteoporosis. Each screen takes 10 minutes or less to complete. Cost of a complete vascular screening is $109. The cost is $139 to add the osteoporosis screening. Pre-registration is required by calling 1-877-237-1287.
