Wyoming Town Board hears reports

No word had been received from the Ramsey County District Court on the Wyoming/Wyoming Township consolidation matter, the Wyoming Town Board learned on July 25.

The Liberty Ponds housing project is moving along and the town board approved a letter of credit reduction from $3.5 million to $1.2 million.

Eugene Palmer and Sharon Raehsler requested a variance for temporary placement of a manufactured home at 24589 Greenway Ave. in order to provide family medical assistance.

The land was formerly zoned agricultural but changed by the County to R2. The Wyoming Township Planning Commission recommended permission and there has been no public comment.

The town board granted the variance which will be renewed annually and exist until the need expires.

There are a couple curve areas on Itasca Avenue that need to be widened for proper shoulders but this project is coming along well, the board learned.

The board approved the payment voucher of $260,057 on the Heath Avenue project as the township has received money from Chisago County for tax levy and the $54,000 from Chisago City for its portion will be paid to the contractor directly.

A majority of residents on Greenway Avenue have petitioned for blacktopping.

A feasibility study had been done in February, 2001 but the project failed to move forward. At that time the estimated cost was $82,250.

The town board opted to accept the petition last week and ordered a new feasibility study to be presented on Aug. 22nd with a possible date of Sept. 26th for a public hearing.

Country Insurance and Financial Service agency owner Chris Sauro of Wyoming reviewed insurance needs for the township last week.

It is difficult to place a value on the main building when there is no like building with which to compare, Sauro told the town board.

A value of $550,000 was decided upon with the storage shed at $50,000. Other discussion set values on tools, the fuel tank and fuel, radio tower, equipment and mobile equipment.

An endorsement may need to be added for new playground equipment after replacement valuations are determined.
