Contracts for 4 school labor groups OKíd
The ISD 831 School Board has voted unanimously to approve wage and benefit contracts and the required structural balance resolutions for four classified labor groups. Action came on Dec. 7 for school district mechanics, custodians, maintenance workers and laundry employees. The four labor groups with a combined 55 employees are represented by Teamsters Local 320. The new custodial, maintenance and laundry employees agreement will provide a total package salary and benefit increase of 8.45 percent over the 2006-2007 and 2007-2008 school years with salary improvement taking 6 percent of the total. The employees command $2 million in district spending each year. The six-employee mechanics group will see a total package wage and benefit increase of 8 percent over the two-year period. Salary improvement will cost 3 percent a year for both years. School board approval followed ratification votes by the employee groups.
