The ISD 831 Board of Education voted 6-1 on Thursday, Dec. 14 to certify the 2006 property levy for taxes to be collected in 2007. The new property tax levy is $14.4 million payable in 2007 for all funds. The new levy is an increase of 9 percent or $1.185 million over the $13.21 million the district collected in 2006. It includes dollars for the five-year $6.5 million operating levy approved by voters in the district on Nov. 7. In the 6-1 vote to approve the levy, member Eric Langness did not join the majority in setting the levy. The new levy is the maximum amount and locks in a maximum return of state aid.
