Several thefts from Forest Lake area businesses filled the city police blotter this week.

Whitaker GM Center, 131 SW 19th St., reported the theft of four tires and rims from a 2007 GMC Crew Cab pickup truck on Dec. 15. When dealership employees arrived for work on Friday, they found the truck on blocks with the tires missing.

Value was listed at $4588.

On Monday, John's Pro-Care reported the theft of a utility trailer valued at $1200. The trailer was stolen from 655 SE 1st St. sometime over the weekend.

Also on Monday, police in Forest Lake arrested a city man for probable cause felony theft after an incident at Menards, 22800 Everton Ave. N.

The store reported to police that it stopped a man in the parking lot with a shopping cart containing $805 in store items that had not been paid for.

The man left the parking lot minus the items after being confronted, according to police. Store officials reported the man's vehicle license plate number.

Police then went to the man home's on Imperial Ave. N. where he was taken into custody for probable cause felony theft.

The theft remains under investigation.

In an update from a burglary one week earlier, Forest Lake police reported this week that the management at Upperdeck Grill & Bar now believe a fourth safe containing $3800 in cash had in fact been stolen during a burglary of the downtown business.

In reporting the crime to police on Sunday, Dec. 10, the business said three safes had been moved but none stolen.
