Bob Dettmerís successful bid for the House of Representatives in District 52A has led to a legislative leave being granted from the ISD 831 Board of Education. The leave will run from Jan. 2 to the end of the 2007 session. The physical education teacher at Forest Lake High School will be allowed to continue some of his duties as head wrestling coach. In action on Dec. 14, Dettmer received board approval of a plan to name Dettmer and Rich Elliot as co-head coaches starting Jan. 2. The two will share the pay for the head coach starting Jan. 2 on a prorated basis. Elliot will receive 55 percent of the balance and Dettmer 45 percent. According to a resolution approved by the board on Dec. 14, starting on Jan. 2, Dettmer will have responsibility to coach at all meets and tournaments (11 on weekdays) and at 13 weekday practices. A second motion approving the change in contract status for Elliot was also approved by the board.
