Liberty Ponds financing studied
Jackie Lallier
Wyoming Township Reporter
The financial situation with the Liberty Ponds developer in Wyoming Township was brought up at the Tuesday, Dec. 12th meeting of the Wyoming Town Board.
It was agreed the township always tries to accommodate developers.
However, it now seems it might be necessary to develope a township policy to withhold monies due to developers who are 60 days in arrears on their payments.
It only makes sense to withhold payment until the financial obligations of a developer is paid, officials agreed.
Other reports
Town Engineer Mark Erichson suggested that the improvement project for Greenway Lane be combined with the West Comfort Park project in order to be more efficient and save money.
The town board wholeheartedly agreed with the suggestion.
Street Superintendent Byron Olson brought up the subject of equipment rented for tree trimming and removal.
Olson has talked to the city of Wyoming with the intent of saving money in the area and they are willing to share the expense by buying a used chipper. Presently the equipment is rented for 60 to 80 hours a year at a cist if $3,600.
By sharing with the city of Wyoming, the cost will be cut by half. The town board approved the change depending on an agreement with the city of Wyoming for this purchase.
Board member Mark Utecht asked for clarification of the state Open Meeting Law. He sought information as three members of the planning commission and the non-voting town board liaison to the commission plan to make a personal visit to the land Xccent wants to purchase to try to determine if there could possibly be a noise and odor problem for the rest of the neighborhood.
He was told there would be no problem in making this visit.
Town Board Chairman Roger Elmore motioned to give the six township employees a $50 food gift certificate to be redeemed at Bruceís IGA in Wyoming.
The town board unanimously approved, especially mentioning the circumstances the employees have worked under during the last stressful year awaiting the outcome of the future of the township.
Scouts visit
Various members of Boy Scout Troop 487 were present at the to observe the workings of how local public government meetings are conducted.
There were no other community members in the audience to bring up any possible concerns in the township that would give the scouts an example of how the town board addresses problems. The main reason for their attendance was to observe ìcommunication.î
