Roberts Family Funeral Home and Forest Lake Floral and Garden Center will team next Tuesday to take part in National Poinsettia Day. The national day is recognized every Dec. 12. From 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., the two businesses will be giving away free poinsettias at Roberts Family Funeral Home, 555 SW Centennial Drive. By an Act of Congress, December 12 was set aside as National Poinsettia Day. The date marks the death of Joel Roberts Poinsett, who is credited with introducing the native Mexican plant to the United States. The purpose of the day is to enjoy the beauty of this popular holiday plant. Area residents are welcome to visit Roberts Family Funeral Home next Tuesday to meet the staff and take home a free poinsettia.
