Forest Lake Fire Department crews responded to 21699 Harrow Ave. N. in Forest Lake around 12:30 a.m. the night of Feb. 4 for a house fire.

Upon arrival flames were showing through the windows on the south side of the house. Firefighters were successful in extinguishing the fire and the three occupants of the house were unharmed.

FLFD Chief Gary Sigfrinius said the homeowner had a potpourri steamer that they went to turn off before going to sleep, but instead of turning the dial off, they turned it up. The potpourri was next to a pan of simmering oil used earlier in the day. As the heat reached the pan of oil, the oil ignited.

Sigfrinius estimated $300,000 worth of damage.
