Railroad book now on sale, agent says
More than 75 area train fans turned out at the Iron Horse Central Railroad Museum north of Bone Lake last Saturday to get their first look at a new book written by museum founder Richard Thompson and Steve Monson. The new book is a history of the railroad that once ran from Wyoming to Taylors Falls. The book, ìThe Taylors Falls & Lake Superior Railroad,î totals 260 pages that span 17 chapters and include numerous historic photos, maps, charts, examples of ticket stubs and detailed drawings of depots and bridges done by Monson. During Saturday's book signing party in the Iron Horse Central depot,Thompson's granddaughter, Abby Thompson, 9, donned the depot agent's cap to sell books. Books are available at Lakes Area Antiques, 568 N. Lake St. in Forest Lake and can be ordered on the Internet at www.ironhorsecentral.com (Photo By Cliff Buchan)
