Washington County Commissioner Dennis C. Hegberg, District 1, has been reelected by the members of the Minnesota Counties Insurance Trust Board of Directors to serve as chair in 2006. He was appointed by the Association of Minnesota Counties to serve on the MCIT board in 1993. AMC appointments are for two years. His current appointment expires in December 2006. He was first elected to serve as chair in 2005. He is one of only six Minnesota county commissioners serving on the MCIT Board of Directors. Board members are chosen for their active involvement in the daily operations of local government. MCIT is a joint-risk sharing pool organized in 1979. It is a public entity that provides property, casualty, and workersí compensation coverage to 81 of Minnesotaís 87 counties and approximately 350 other public entities in the state. Hegberg was first elected as a county commissioner in 1989. This district includes the cities of Birchwood, Dellwood, Forest Lake, Grant, Hugo, Mahtomedi, Marine-on-St. Croix, Pine Springs, an eastern part of White Bear Lake, Willernie and New Scandia Township.
