FL HRC seeks nominations for award
The Forest Lake Human Rights Commission is seeking nominations for its annual ìBridging Our Differencesî Human Rights Award. The winner will be honored at a city council meeting and in local publications.
The winnerís name will be inscribed on a plaque that is on permanent display in the Forest Lake City Hall. In addition, the winner will receive a personally inscribed plaque.
Deadline to submit a nomination is Monday, March 13, 2006. A nomination form can be submitted by any individual, organization, or business. Members of the FLHRC and the Forest Lake City Council, and their immediate families are not eligible for the award.
The nominee may be an individual, organization (group, club, etc.), or a business. Nominees must live or work in the communities served by the Forest Lake School District 831. Cities within the Forest Lake School District 831 are East Bethel, May Township, Ham Lake, Hugo, Forest Lake, Columbus Township, Lino Lakes, Linwood Township, Marine, Scandia, Stacy, and Wyoming.
Examples of possible nominations are activities related to the reduction/elimination of bullying or teasing incidents, someone who brings people of different backgrounds together as a group, or someone who celebrates similarities between people instead of differences.
Recipients of the ìBridging Our Differencesî Human Right Award will be determined by a committee made up of FLHRC board members and selected community leaders.
