Richard Thompson and Steve Monson were two happy fellows on Monday.

After months of toil and labor and more weeks of waiting and waiting, they finally have their book in hand. The book, ěThe Taylors Falls & Lake Superior Railroad,î was delivered on Monday and is now available for sale at outlets in Forest Lake and Lindstrom.

The book is a detailed historical account of the former railroad that connected Wyoming with Taylors Falls between 1880 and 1948 when the line was abandoned and the tracks taken up.

The 260-page, 17-chapter book is filled with 180 historic photos, 30 detailed hand drawings of bridges and depots, charts, and examples of stock certificates, train tickets, railroad passes, maps and advertisements.

The book is being sold at Lakes Area Antiques, 568 N. Lake St. on US-61 north in Forest Lake and at the Lindstrom Antique Mall in Lindstrom.

The book can also be purchased on the Internet at www.ironhorsecentral.com.

The authors will meet the public for their first book signing party this Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Thompsonís Iron Horse Central Museum north of Bone Lake in Chisago Lake Township.

The railroad museumís historic depot will be the site for the book signing. Coffee, apple cider and cookies will be served.

To reach the museum, follow TH-97 six miles east of Forest Lake to CR-1 (Lofton Ave.). Turn left and go three miles north on CR-1 to 238th St. N. and turn right. Follow 238th St. for one mile to Morgan Avenue. At Morgan Ave., turn left and go one mile to the museum at 24880 Morgan Ave. and park in the first driveway. For more information, call 651-257-6225.

Thompson and Monson are also scheduled for a ěMeet the Authorsî day at the new Giese Memorial Library in Wyoming in May.
