Two games in two days against two strong opponents proved to be too much for the Forest Lake High School girls basketball team this week as they lost to Woodbury and Duluth East.

The Rangers began the back to back games Friday against Suburban East Conference foe Woodbury.

Woodbury held the Rangers to only 10 points in the first half while scoring 26. The second half was a bit closer, but Woodbury again outscored the Rangers 22-16 as they went on to win 48-26.

Scoring for the Rangers was spread out, but Janelle Winiecki led the team with eight points. Renee Frericks and Alisha Johnson each had three steals in the game, and Annie Berner had five rebounds.

Saturday the Rangers played a non conference game at Duluth East. The Rangers had a 32-31 lead at the half, but Duluth East overpowered the Rangers in the second half to win 66-57.

Frericks had 20 points in the game, while Winiecki had 13 and Berner 12. Berner and Sarah Lindenberg each had five rebounds in the game.

The Rangers next game is at 7:30 p.m. Friday when they host Hastings.
