Gymnasts defeat Hastings

Team depth helped the Forest Lake High School gymnastics team achieve a season high score of 143.425 in a 143.425-125.85 victory over Hastings Friday night.
ìThe entire team really contributed to this win,î Rangers coach Nancy Elias said. ìWe had some good depth and didnít really have many personal best scores or really high event scores, but everyone played a significant role.î
Nicole Paulson took first place in all four events, giving her first place in the all-around as well. Paulson had a score of 9.25 on the vault, 8.6 on the bars, 9.25 on the beam and 9.3 on the floor for an all-around score of 36.4.
Stephanie Sampair and Tasha Tyler tied Paulson for first place with scores of 8.6 on the bars. Taylor Brett took second on the vault with a score of 9.2, while Maddie Crew tied Paulson for first on the floor with a score of 9.3.
Third place finishes were registered by Crew on the vault with a score of 9.05, Tyler on the floor with a score of 9.2 and Chelsea Uram on the beam with a score of 9.0.
The Rangers next event is at 6:30 p.m. today, Thursday, at Park (Cottage Grove.)
