The Wyoming City Council on Tuesday, Jan. 3 selected Springsted Incorporated to conduct an executive job search to help council select a new city administrator.

Nick Dragisich, Springsted executive vice president, handed out bound copies of the job profile at last weekís first meeting of 2006.

The job profile is a description of the city as it is now, and anticipation of the city/township merger. Also included are its unique challenges and problems.

Among these are the merger, combining budgets and capital programs, growth management policy to consider infrastructure expansion, expanding police protection, downtown redevelopment, prioritizing street improvements, a new city government center and labor negotiations.

A description of benefits and compensation, and a summary of the application and selection process are also outlined. Dragisich indicated some minor changes that need to be made before copies are available for potential candidates for the job.

Council members were pleased with the profile and authorized him to begin placing advertisements and begin the recruiting process. Advertisement is to be run in the ICMA Newsletter and Website, League of Minnesota Cities, and Government Jobs Website.

According to the profile, application deadline is Feb. 15, 2006.

Springsted will screen resumes based on criteria established by the council. The process will include interviews and reference checks.

A group of finalists will be presented to the council.

Dragisich anticipates interviews during March 2006.

The cost of the consultant will be $19,500, according to 2006 budget figures.

County update

County Commissioner Ben Montzka provided an update for some of the latest Chisago County Board actions.

At issue are the reduced library hours, but only at the Giese Memorial Library in Wyoming, Montzka said.

While the mechanism is not in place yet Montzka said that he and Commissioner Rick Olseen have offered to donate their reimbursement for mileage as commissioners to make up the deficit in staffing funds.

This would make it possible to keep the library open more hours, he said. Montzka is also donating his mileage and per diem for the same purpose.

ïDesignated First State Bank of Wyoming the official depository for the city.

ïNames the Forest Lake Times the cityís official newspaper for 2006
