City of Wyoming handles routine items

Wyoming City Council has approved replacement of the infra-red pipe and two burners in the heating system for the fire department.

Fire Chief Dennis Berry explained that the unit is 30 years old and parts are difficult to find. Even with replacement, the hangers, reflector and vacuum pump can be re-used.

The bid available at the time of the meeting on Jan. 3 was for $4400. The council approved up to $5000 for the purchase. The city staff is to seek more bids before one is awarded.

According to the written report from Attorney Tom Miller, Polaris officials are reviewing the MI F loan agreement and he anticipates it will be signed soon.

Engineer Lee Elfering is collecting payment receipts and invoices to document the $500,000 eligible expenditures so the grant can be issued by the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development.

Miller has also prepared a revised contract for the contractor providing equipment and service for the new automated water meters.

Elfering reported that the joint sewer pipeline is operational and the cityís wastewater is being treated at the new plant. Related to that, the city has begun working on the abandonment of the treatment ponds south of CR-84.

MPCA is working with the city to ensure proper cleanup. Any use by Polaris of the land before the land is abandoned is to be approved by the city council. Meetings related to these issues are to be scheduled for mid-January.
