County OKís CIP for 2006-2010

The Washington County Board of Commissioners on Jan. 10 approved the capital improvement plan for 2006 to 2010. The plan provides guidance to the county regarding big-ticket projects such as construction and expansion of roads, bridges and public facilities, development of public parks and technology improvements. Each project identified in the plan will be considered individually by the board and will be subject to significant public review prior to allocation of funding. The plan identifies over 144 projects which, if approved, would require $663 million in funding from local, state, federal and other resources. These projects range from $439 million for establishment of the Red Rock Corridor transitway to $6,000 for new fire rings at Lake Elmo Park Reserve. The CIP was adopted after a public hearing and review of the plan by city officials and other stakeholders. The plan is posted on the Washington County website: www.co.washington.mn.us.
