Tonight (Thursday) is the night for the first go at discussing a fall levy referendum in ISD 831. The school board will resume discussions on a fall excess levy referendum during its 7 p.m. work session meeting at the District Office Building, 6100 N. 210th St. The school board on Jan. 5, agreed to begin the talks and announced the Jan. 19 meeting date late last week. The discussion will focus on what steps the district must take in the aftermath of last fall's public rejection of request to replace the current excess operating levy with a new and larger local property tax levy. The district has one year remaining on the operating levy that is in place. The levy is used to supplement the districtís general fund with dollars that are not available through regular state aid. Additional meeting dates this winter and spring likely will be set.
