Dan Kieger will get FL School Board seat

Dan Kieger of Lino Lakes has been appointed to fill a seat on the ISD 831 Board of Education left vacant by Keith Dunham's resignation. Kieger was a 6-2 choice of the board at a special meeting Tuesday night and will take office on Thursday, Aug. 3, the next regular business meeting of the school board.

Kieger was one of four district residents to interview. Others who met with the board on Tuesday included Linda Nanko-Yeager of Wyoming, and David Homyak and Jim Noll, both of Forest Lake. Members Bill Bresin, Joe Grafft, Rob Rapheal and Julie Corcoran backed Kieger for the seat, saying his steady involvement with school functions and willingness to run for the board last November were points in his favor. Members David Gay and Eric Langness both felt Nanko-Yeager would be a good addition to the board, with Langness adding that he could also support Noll for the position. Kieger was the fourth candidate in last November's election where three seats on the school board were filled.

The board had praise for all four candidates and encouraged all to consider running for the board in November of 2007 when the seat Kieger will fill is on the ballot. A fifth applicant for the seat, Tim Garry of Forest Lake, withdrew from consideration prior to the interview session.
