Chris Sauro, author of a new book on Vietnam, ìThe Twins Platoon,î will be on the road in Virginia and Texas speaking to military groups and attending local book signing events to help promote the book. Sauro, a North Branch resident and Wyoming insurance agency owner, will attend the 2006 reunion of the 2nd Battalion 4th Marine Association at the Marine Corps Base, Quantico, VA today (Thursday) through Saturday. He will also be at the Marine Corps Combat Helicopter Association Reunion, Aug. 10-13 in Fort Worth, TX. Locally, Sauro has several events in the works. At 2 p.m. Saturday, July 22, Sauro will sign books at the Barnes & Noble Book Store, 710 CR-10 NE in Blaine. He is also scheduled to appear during the Linwood Family Fun Day on Sept. 9 and at a book signing 1-3 p.m., Sept. 16 at Walden Bookstore in Northtown Mall. The 288-page book was released March 15 by Zenith Books with a printing of 5500 books. A second printing has just begun and Sauro is ecstatic. ìThe response has been outstanding and much better than anyone could have hoped for,î Sauro says. The book is the story of the 150 Marines who started their military lives on June 28, 1967 during a swearing-in ceremony at a Twins game at old Metropolitan Stadium.
