Hutton makes it official, files for sheriff
Bill Hutton was the first candidate to file for the post of Washington County Sheriff on Wednesday, July 5. Hutton, 47, is the captain of the patrol division for the Oakdale Police Department. He has decades of experience in Washington County law enforcement and human services. He has served Washington County as a police officer since joining the Oakdale Police Department in 1983. He has led and collaborated on many high-profile cases, including the arrest of convicted child molester Father James Porter. In addition, Hutton has handled the kinds of cases that can profoundly affect residents. Hutton said he knows what it takes to maintain public safety and quality of life in Washington County and will use his knowledge of the county, as well as his extensive background in law enforcement, to build strong partnerships from the sheriffís office.
