Camp Ojiketa preservation sought
The Chisago County Board of Commissioners on June 7 passed a resolution supporting the countyís proposed purchase of the CampFire-owned Camp Ojiketa on Big Green Lake in Chisago Lake Township. The motion to propose the purchase came from Wyoming-area County Commissioner Ben Montzka. ěThe preservation of Camp Ojiketa as a high quality open space is very important,î he said. ěThis action commits no county funds, but is intended to demonstrate to CampFire strong support for the preservation of Camp Ojiketa.î The 70-acre Camp Ojiketa is owned by CampFire USA Minnesota Council. Earlier, the Chisago City Council voted to submit a sealed bid to purchase Camp Ojiketa as a public park.
