Fry, Walsh win Columbus Town Board seats
In a hotly contested election Tuesday, Renae Fry and Mark Walsh claimed seats on the Columbus Township Board of Supervisors. Fry, a former supervisor who was defeated in a reelection bid a year ago, won the Seat D seat with an 834 to 501 victory over Marge Hughes. In the race for the Seat E seat on the town board, incumbent Supervisor Mark Walsh was reelected on the strength of an 814 to 519 victory over James Marshall.
Columbus Township officials said Tuesday the voter turnout was 1359 for the annual election and near record highs. With just over 2500 registered voters in the township, Tuesday's turnout was near 55 percent, officials said. Fry and Walsh will take their seats on the Columbus Town Board at the Wednesday, April 5 meeting.
