Two local county commissioners recently met with Eighth District Congressman Jim Oberstar to discus transit issues. Dennis Hegberg of Forest Lake and Washington County and Ben Montzka of Wyoming and Chisago County met with Oberstar on May 1 in Minneapolis to discuss transit needs for the Rush Line Transportation Corridor. ìThe next step in the process is to bring commuter bus service to the communities in the Rush Line Transportation Corridor,î Montzka said. ìThe additional transit services funded by the congressmanís efforts will improve the economic vitality of our area,î Hegberg added. Both commissioners serve on the Rush Line Task Force which lobbies for federal transit funding and coordinates the expenditures of federal funds when available.
