Keep that heavy foot off the pedal and be sure to buckle up.

That is the advice of Chief of Police Clark Quiring who said this week Forest Lake officers will be out in force this month with a Safe & Sober campaign that is targeting speed and seat belt use.

Anyone stopped for speeding and not wearing a seat belt can expect a ticket, the chief said.

Extra patrols began this week and will continue throughout the month. Quiring said officers will be doing extra patrols on high-traffic roads and on city streets where there have been public complaints.

Forest Lake officers will team with deputies from Washington County for the patrols. Funding for the saturation patrols is coming from a joint county-city grant, the chief said.

Minnesota State Patrol troopers will assist on some of the extra patrols, the chief said.
