Board will continue levy talk May 25
The ISD 831 Board of Education will resume talks on a fall levy referendum during a special work session next week. The school board will meet at 7 p.m., Thursday, May 25 in the media center at Forest Lake High School, 6101 Scandia Trail N. On May 8 the administration presented a potential budget cutting plan that would remove $6 million to $8 million in general fund spending in the event the current excess operating levy is allowed to expire. Board members will discuss plans for a November 7 levy vote in the school district that will seek to extend or expand the existing $6 million levy that expires at the end of the 2007-2008 school year. The list of budget cuts presented May 8 include 77 teaching positions that would be eliminated in the 2007-2008 school year if the operating levy expires.
