Poepard will be honored May 23
Area residents are invited to attend an open house celebration of ìThings that Donít Work Anymore - burnt out light bulbs, flat tires, broken bats and Dan Poepard.î
The retirement event in Poepardís honor will take place 4-7 p.m., Tuesday, May 23 American Legion Post 225, 355 W. Broadway Ave.
Speakers have been invited to share their thoughts about Poepard throughout the open house and refreshments will be served.
Poepard has completed nearly 35 years in the Forest Lake School District as a teacher, coach, counselor and, for the last 20 years, as the director of community education.
The community education program has grown under Poepardís leadership and has expanded the opportunities youth athletics, enrichment classes for adults and senior citizens, driver education, youth development, aquatics and ice arena.
Several programs were added including Early Childhood Family Education, School Age Care, LINK ó serving people with disabilities, Adult Basic Education and others that benefited many people in the Forest Lake area.
Because of Poepardís leadership, Community Education is a vital part of the Forest Lake School District.
The community is invited to the American Legion on May 23 to say thank you to Poepard for his years of service to the community and wish him and his wife Vicki well as they start a new chapter in their lives.
No gifts, please. Donations can be made to the Forest Lake Area Partnership for Families - Family Emergency Fund in Danís name.
