Wyoming court date now May 31

Jackie Lallier
Wyoming Township Reporter

Wednesday, May 31 is the new date for the Ramsey County District Court consolidation hearing previously set for April 12th, Wyoming Town Board Chair Roger Elmore told the town board at its regular meeting on Tuesday, April 25.

Board members thoroughly discussed the allocation of funds for six agencies that provide service in the area, trying to be fair but considering how each are active in the township itself.

The final determination was as follows: Youth Service Bureau of Forest Lake, $1600; Refuge Network $1600; Family Pathways, $1600; Chisago County Senior Center $1600; Community Partnership with Youth, $800; and Northwoods Humane Society, $800.

The city of Wyoming has requested monies from the township to aid in a Joint Emergency Management Program.

The city recently purchased a generator at a reduced cost of $300, has spent $600 for a pad and will need approximately $1100 for wiring and probably $1200 for a pump, totalling approximately $3200.

This set-up is proposed to make the Wyoming City Hall an emergency command center for the whole area in event of a disaster situation.

Since Wyoming city is just beginning a program and the township already has an emergency program, it was suggested the members of the township committee meet with members of the city to work together on the procedure already set up.

The town board passed a resolution to allot at least $1600 from the Emergency Management Fund toward the joint procedure at this time.

Other actions

The town board considered the request for rezoning a parcel of land at 24049 Heath Avenue owned by Steve and Karla Hunt from agricultural to RR1 so they can build a garage with a set back variance of 10 feet instead of the 40 feet requirement.

The planning commission felt the request is appropriate for the area and the town board approved the request.

Engineer Mark Erichson reported that Heath Avenue will be put back to its original condition as soon as the road restrictions are taken off.

He is also working with Chisago City on the Itasca Avenue roadway improvement project and bids will be let shortly.

The Chisago County surveyor is planning to do a ìfly overî and would like to know if the township would like to participate in the aerial photo program. At this point, it was decided to find out what the cost would be.

A motion was entertained for nominations for a member to the East Central Regional Development Committee. None was made.

Announcements were made that Mary Utecht will be appointed deputy clerk to take Norma Olsonís place when Norma moves in July.

Frank Storm is the new chairman of the planning commission.

Chairman Elmore gave special ìThanksî to outgoing members Loyal Hyatt from the planning commission and Ed Olson from the park board for their many years of service.
