Rain didnít help the Forest Lake High School boys track and field team this week as they had one event washed out. They did manage to compete in two others.
The Rangers started the week with a meet at Roseville.
ìI would say that after our big weekend at the Park (Cottage Grove) relays we were still a little tired,î Rangers head coach Paul Kendrick said. ìWe competed well since they werenít fully recovered.î
Despite fatigue, some Rangers athletes did have quality performances.
Geoff Cass had a personal best time in the 110 meter high hurdles with a time of 15.77. Cassís time put him in fifth place.
ìThere were several ranked runners in that race that have a shot of going to state and he (Cass) really competed well and dropped his time,î Kendrick said.
Jamison Hill also had a personal best time in the mile run with a time of 4:43, putting him in fourth place in the event.
Jack Wittrock placed fifth in the 400 meter dash with a time of 54.35.
ìThat was the first meet that we were against a lot of talent in the sprints,î Kendrick said. ìIt was a good meet as far as that goes because we were out there against teams that really flew.î
Friday the Rangers were able to qualify for several events at the Hamline Elite meet.
The 4x200 meter relay team of Wittrock, Dillon Grant, Erik Stolberg and Dalton Keep placed sixth with a personal best time of 1:34.04.
Tyler Kleinhuizen and Derek Peterson finished second and third respectively in the shot put. Kleinhuizen had a throw of 54í 10î, while Peterson threw 54í 4î.
The two also competed in the discus where they were fourth and fifth. Kleinhuizen threw for a distance of 147î, and Peterson 144í.
ìI think the weather was such that it was pretty difficult to hit some big discus throws,î Kendrick said.
The Rangers next meet is at 4 p.m. Friday at Edina.
